Strider Scott on European tour

Selby Striders were well represented at the local Gilberdyke 10-mile race recently.

With nine striders taking part and some PBs it was a great morning race in the sun. First home was Mark Thompson in 01:01:18, Rich Harrison 01:06:56, Dave Walker 01:09:07, Paula Fenteman 01:10:08, Sara Harrison 01:15:14, Jonathon Page 01:18:02, Susan Farr 01:24:38, Joanne Hindle 01:50:28 and Amy Page 01:54:19. Much further afield, former strider Scott Smith completed the UTMB, this is a 100-mile race starting in Chamonix before crossing into Italy, then Switzerland, before finishing back in France taking in over 10km in elevation on the route! Well done Scott, a fantastic achievement. (01-09-744 SU)

Towering display by Carlton

Carlton Towers 1st XI 205 all out York 2nd XI 167 all out As the covers came off at York, captain Rob Holah won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first. Two early wickets fell as Henry Bayston and Tom Collins both went with the score at 9 for 2. Alex Hartley, who was making his first team debut, put on a partnership of 20 with Rob Holah until Hartley had to go for 7. Another wicket fell straight after and Carlton were 29 for 4.
